Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court upheld 7-year jail term against two political detainees convicted, along with a third defendant, of attempting to murder a policeman at Diraz entrance.

The authorities say that the defendants prepared Molotov cocktails and hurled them against the security forces situated at the country's entrance, which led to burning the police patrol and caused severe injuries to a policeman.

The appeals court rejected the appeals of the third defendant for lodging it after the due date.

The court said that the second and third suspects received commuted sentence because they are under 18 years. Thus, the court sentenced them to 7 years in jail and bound all of the defendants to pay 19 thousand BD for the damages.

The authorities claim that the third suspect planned to target any of the policemen and set the police patrol to fire, aiming at killing the policemen. He contacted the second defendant and asked him to choose a companion. The second suspect admitted that he communicated with the first one and decided to attack the police patrol after preparing the Molotov cocktails.
