Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Al-Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper reported that the company responsible for bidding at Bahrain's new airport auction violated the bidding results related to car rental companies, excluding three companies that made better offers.

The total difference between the bids offered by the three companies and the companies selected amounted to nearly half a million Bahraini dinars over a period of five years, noted the paper.

The representatives of "Oscar" and "Al-Khaleej" and "Koubaisi" rental car firms said that they worked for 20 years at the airport and provided services without any problems and were paying their rental fees regularly, adding that when the conclusion of the new airport project neared, they were informed to participate in the bidding, where 12 companies would be selected.

"We participated and the offers of the three companies were among the top 12 deals, but we were surprised by them informing us that the bid will be conducted again under the pretext that the lowest offer per year should not be less than 50,000 dinars, and they explained the technical and financial aspects of the auction again.

"For the second time, our bids were in the top 12, as Oscar came in second place, Al-Khaleej ranked third and Koubaisi ranked ninth among 23 companies," added the representatives of the three companies.

They went on to say that: "While we were waiting for their calls to complete the new contracts, we were shocked that we were not chosen. When we tried to contact an official at Bahrain Airport, the response was that the offers of others were better."

They wondered how they could be excluded when one of the companies chosen bid less than 50,000 dinars a year?!
