Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's High Court of Appeals rejected two appeals of a verdict in a case involving eight defendants accused of attempting to kill policemen by detonating a homemade bomb on a Damistan street, ruling the appeal of a third invalid, and sentencing the three appellants to 15 years in prison.

The authorities claim that the defendants caused a bomb explosion on a Damistan street, through which police patrols pass, alleging that a number of policemen were injured and a patrol vehicle damaged.

The Court of First Instance had sentenced the eight defendants to 15 years' imprisonment and ordered the confiscation of seized items. Two of them appealed the verdict and another filed an interlocutory appeal. The Court accepted both appeals in form, but rejecting them in substance and upholding the appealed verdict, while ruling the interlocutory appeal invalid.
