2018-08-16 - 9:54 p
Bahrain Mirror: UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention urged on Wednesday (August 15, 2018) Bahrain to immediately release prominent human rights activist Nabeel Rajab.
The UN panel said that the Bahraini authorities used vague and overly broad laws in order to target him over his point of views and political criticism, indicating that this is incompatible with his rights to freedom of opinion and expression.
As the panel demanded Bahrain to immediately and unconditionally release Rajab, it pointed out that the arbitrary arrest of human rights defender, activists, religious leaders and other active parties in the civil society in Bahrain may approach the category of crimes against humanity.
