Government Refers to House of Representatives Law Including Raising Retirement Age and Contributions

Bahrain Mirror: A local newspaper reported that the Government referred to the House of Representatives new amendments to the pension law that included opinions made previously to the House of Representatives.
Among the proposals made by the government is increasing the retirement age, raising the contributions to 27% and stopping the annual increase for retirees after 7 years.
The Al-Ayam daily said that the special group on studying the pension law heard the opinions of financial, services, legislative and legal committees with respect to the amendments.
The government had proposed views that included 17 procedures it deemed necessary to save the Fund from bankruptcy, before it added them to the law, despite the reservations of Bahrain General Federation of trade unions and the legislative authority.
