Bahrain Mirror: The authorities claimed that they could arrest 5 suspects accused of taking part in 12 incidents of burning tires in different areas in Dar Kulaib, aiming at disrupting public peace, after discovering the same green car in the 12 incidents.

The authorities said that the car was used in transferring the materials used in the protests and tires burning, adding that they reached its owner who confessed taking part in 5 of the incidents.

The Fourth High Criminal Court decided to adjourn the case until September 6 for pleading, giving a copy of the documents to the defense as well as assigning a lawyer to defend the first 3 suspects and announce the fourth.

The authorities said that the first suspect admitted participating, along with other unknowns, in the 12 incidents of burning tires and assembling. Thus, the Public Prosecution accused them of, setting fire, along with other unknowns, in April 12, to movables mentioned in the documents, noting that the act would endanger people's lives and money as well as public transportations. It also accused them of taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly of more than 5 persons, aiming at disrupting public peace and putting people's lives and money to danger, noting that they used violence to achieve the aim they gathered for.

Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
