Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the country's largest opposition political association, has blamed the Bahraini authorities for the deterioration of the spiritual leader of the Shiite majority, Sheikh Isa Qassim's health.
Al-Wefaq said in a statement that the authorities, including the head of the state, bear full responsibility for the deterioration of Qassim's health, since he's been under house arrest and unable to follow up on his health conition except through security procedures and decisions that impose all the details and conditions of treatment and the required medical treatment to be received.
Al-Wefaq demanded that the siege and house arrest be lifted, restoring all his civil, human and religious rights, stressing that those steps would be "a major part of the efforts towards addressing the humanitarian, rights and political situation which Bahrain needs."
On Sunday evening, June 24, 2018, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim's health deteriorated and he was taken by an ambulance accompanied by a security vehicle to a hospital. Ayatollah Qassim is still under medical observation and follow-up there.
During the transfer of Ayatollah Qasim, the authorities arrested his son and son-in-law and detained them for about 6 hours before releasing them.
