Bahrain Crown Prince Shakes Hands with Israeli Delegation during World Heritage Committee Opening

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The forty-second session of the World Heritage Committee was opened in Bahrain on Wednesday (24 June 2018) with the participation of over 2,000 cultural and natural heritage experts, including Israel representatives.

Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa opened the session, referring to the efforts of the committee in documenting the cultures of communities and enhancing human communication, calling on participants to "further coordinate and cooperate in achieving the objectives of the committee."

The crown prince also made sure to greet the Israeli delegation by shaking hands after the opening ceremony at the Bahrain National Museum, east of Manama.

"It is significant that this year the Committee is being held in an Arab country," said the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, since the region has rich historical and heritage reserves that call for cooperation to be preserved it and dealing with the challenges and changes facing the efforts to achieve this.
