2018-06-06 - 12:22 am
Bahrain Mirror: The House of Representatives rejected in its session on Tuesday (June 5, 2018) the new retirement bill which was urgently referred by the Government.
The 38 MPs attending the session voted against the bill.
The voting was preceded by interventions for a number of the MPs who expressed their outrage at the bill.
The bill grants great powers to the social insurance board and military retirement fund, allowing them to change retirement privileges and rights without referring to the legislative authority.
The House of Representative is expected to urgently refer the bill to the Shura Council on Tuesday.
