Court Upholds 2&3-Year Jail Term against 5 Defendants Accused of Assembling in Bilad Al-Qadeem

Bahrain Mirror: The First High Appeals Criminal Court upheld prison terms against 5 out of 7 defendants. It upheld 3-year jail term against 3 defenats and 2-year jail term against 2 others after being convicted of assembling and burning a number of tires in Bilad Al-Qadeem, aiming at causing chaos.

The first instance court had sentenced 5 suspects to 3 years in jail and 2 others to 2 years due to their young age.

The Public Prosecution accused the 7 suspects of setting fire, along with other unknowns, on October 18, 2016, to tires, that would endanger people's live and money, and taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly of more than 5 persons, aiming at disrupting public peace, noting that they used violence to achieve the aim they gathered for. It also accused them of acquiring, along with other unknowns, Molotov, aiming at putting people's lives and private money to danger.
