3-Year Jail Term Handed down to 2 Suspects over Assembling in A’ali

Bahrain Mirror: The Fourth High Criminal Court sentenced 2 suspects to 3 years in jail over assembling in A'ali and acquiring Molotov.

The Public Prosecution accused the first and second suspects of setting fire, along with other unknowns, on June 23, 2016, to tire, aiming at endangering people's live and taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly of at least 5 persons, aiming at committing crimes, disrupting public peace, noting that they used violence to achieve the aim they gathered for.

It also accused them of endangering, along with other unknowns, public transportation through putting fire on public street and acquiring Molotov aiming at using them to put people's lives and public money to danger.

The suspects were accused of deliberately damaging, along with other unknowns, a car owned by victim "citizen" and accused the third suspect of agreeing with the first and second suspects, as well as other unknowns, and inciting them to commit crimes.

Since 2012, riot cases that go under the demonstrations and riot section of the penal code were adapted to apply to the terrorism law, if there were "terrorist" purposes behind them, such as attempted murder of a police officer, violating the provisions of law and endangering the lives of people and their properties, within the regime's framework of harshening penalties against protesters and activists.
