BFHR Monitored 1668 Human Rights Violations in March

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain Forum for Human Rights (BFHR) said that it monitored 1668 serious human rights violations during March 2018.
The forum clarified in "the monthly index" it issues that the number of violations in March exceeded that of the previous month by 563 violations.
The report stated that the authorities arrested 115 citizens in arbitrary way and the 42 of them were subjected to forced disappearances. Meanwhile, 96 citizens received arbitrary sentences which amounted to 599 years and 11 months in prison.
BFHR further stated that 60 cases of torture and ill-treatment were documented and that 489 media materials that incite hate speech were monitored. The violations also included 152 unlawful raids on houses and residential facilities, 86 crackdowns on peaceful gatherings and protests and the referral of 550 individuals, who were arrested over cases related to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, to trial.
Diraz has continued 648 days under siege. Meanwhile, the highest religious authority for Shia in Bahrain, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, has completed 311 days under house arrest without a judicial order or administrative decision. BFHR said that Shia were banned from performing Friday prayers in Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz 5 times in March, which increase the prohibitions to 90 times since 2016.
1 case of unlawful confiscation of property and 10 cases of destruction of property were monitored, according to BFHR.
Bahrain witnessed 296 protests in March. Meanwhile, 1153 protest were recorded since the onset of the year against the ongoing ban of peaceful assembly since 1277 days. The number of arbitrary arrests since the beginning of the year has reached 315. Besides, the authorities have carried out 358 raids on citizens' houses since the onset of 2018. The authorities have revoked the nationalities of 579 citizens since 2012.
