MoH Denies Banning Treatment of Sickle Cell Anemia Patients in Private Hospitals

Bahrain Mirror: The Ministry of Health (MoH) denied what was circulated in media channels about banning the sickle cell anemia patient medicine in private hospitals, stressing that the circulated news is baseless.

Responding to what was circulated on some media outlets about "banning the sickle cell anemia patient medicine in private hospitals", the ministry affirmed that it is continuing to provide quality health services to all patients especially sickle cell anemia patients.

The ministry also affirmed that it hasn't and will never ban the treatment of any patient in Bahrain whether in private or government hospitals, stressing that the treatment plans are set by the medical staff and are discussed with the patient while visiting the specialist clinic. It also added that full health services facilities are provided in the ministry's facilities. The Ministry of Health further stated that decisions related to the private sector are taken in agreement with the National Health Regulatory Authority and will be officially announced, as there is continuous cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Health and National Health Regulatory Authority for the interest of the patient.
