Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court upheld verdict against 5 appellants accused of assembling, burning tires, and attacking police in southern Al-Sahla. A first instance court had sentenced 2 defendants to 2 years in prison and 3  defendants to 1 year.

The authorities claim that the defendants staged protests in southern Al-Sahla, blocked the streets using trash cans and set fire to a number of them. When policemen came, the protestors attacked them using Molotov, iron rods and stones and fled. The first suspect was caught wearing black mask. The second suspect confessed during investigations that the other suspects took part in the crimes.

Since 2012, riot cases that go under the demonstrations and riot section of the penal code were adapted to apply to the terrorism law, if there were "terrorist" purposes behind them, such as attempted murder of a police officer, violating the provisions of law and endangering the lives of people and their properties, within the regime's framework of harshening penalties against protesters and activists.
