Bahrain Mirror: Thousands in Bahrain took to the streets on Wednesday (February 14, 2018) marking the seventh anniversary of the February 14 uprising that erupted in 2011.
Despite the tight security measures, protestors marched through the old commercial street in the capital Manama, its suburbs and nearby villages.
Government forces fired tear gas canisters and shotgun pellets at peaceful protestors.
Anti-government demonstrators held posters that read slogans condemning the country's king Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, whom they blamed for the human rights violations the island kingdom is witnessing.
Shops were closed in many areas across the country in commemoration of this occasion.
The opposition in Bahrain demands the implementation of political reforms that would put an end to the ruling Al Khalifa family's monopoly over power.
Saudi troops entered Bahrain in 2011 to aid the Bahraini government in their clampdown and raid on protestors rallying at the Pearl Roundabout (the cradle of protests), which left dozens of Bahrainis either killed or injured and hundreds imprisoned, including the leaders of the movement.
