Bahrain Mirror: The Fourth High Criminal Court in Bahrain, headed by Judge Ali Khalifa Al Dhahrani, unanimously ruled on Thursday (February 1, 2018) sentencing Mousa Abdullah Mousa Jaafar to death on charges of killing a policeman in the Karana bombing.
The court also sentenced 13 defendants to life imprisonment, 8 to 15 years in prison and 4 others to 3-5 years, ordering the revocation of the citizenships of 25 of them, while acquitting six of their charges.
The authorities claimed that a policeman was killed in a bomb blast in the Karana area on Friday (August 28, 2015), and announced at the time within 24 hours that the suspects had been arrested.
Opposition parties question such incidents, which they often describe as "mysterious", and call for independent commissions of inquiry into these incidents, but the authorities refuse to respond to such demands.
On Wednesday (January 31, 2018), the same court sentenced two defendants to death, 19 to life imprisonment, 17 to 15 years in prison, 9 to 10 years and 11 others to 5 years, acquitting two of the charges raised against them, also ordering the revocation of the citizenships of 47 defendants in the Jaw Prison escape and officer Al-Hammadi murder case.
