Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Public Prosecution referred on Wednesday (December 6, 2017) the first case related to Diraz assembly to court, in which one of the citizens is accused of attempting to run over a policeman.
Chief of Terror Crimes Prosecution Ahmed Al-Hammadi said that an imprisoned suspect was referred to the Fourth High Criminal Court over the charge of "attempting to murder and assaulting public officer", adding that the suspect will stand trial on December 25.
The authorities claim that on May 23, 2017, when a public security patrol was stationed near Diraz, the suspect hit the policeman with the bus he was driving after spotting him getting down from a police vehicle to perform prayers. The suspect also stabbed another policeman with a knife while trying to flee. He was later arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
This case is considered the first case linked to Diraz raid and dispersal of sit-in held outside Sheikh Isa Qassim's house, where 5 citizens were killed and 400 arrested, according to human rights sources.
