Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al-Hassan, held a security meeting with the Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), Jürgen Stock, in the framework of the efforts made to bolster "bilateral cooperation and best successful practices in fighting organised crimes and terrorism."

During the meeting, the Al-Hassan briefed the INTERPOL Secretary General on a number of statistics highlighting the recent reduction in crime rate. The Public Security Chief also gave a brief overview of what he described as terrorist acts against the Kingdom of Bahrain, smuggling of arms and explosives and targeting of the police force. In this regard, he reiterated what he called "the blatant Iranian interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the material and logistical support provided by Iranian sources to terrorist groups."

They further discussed the growing security challenges and their impact on the internal situation and regional environment and how to deal with them with the required accuracy and efficiency. Future plans were also discussed to develop the police cadre by providing courses and training programs that would reinforce the efforts in countering crime and terrorism.
