Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Ministry of the Interior said that inmates held in Bahraini prisons "receive all the rights stated in the Reform and Rehabilitation Institution law", in response to calls for respecting the basic rights of prisoners.
The ministry mentioned that prisoners enjoy all their rights including "visitation, healthcare and medical appointments at clinics inside and outside the centre, while their medicines are regularly prescribed to them."
The Interior Ministry further stated that the General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation carries out its duties towards inmates with integrity.
The International Committee of the Red Cross had called for an urgent visit to Bahrain to examine the conditions of prisoners, calling on the international community to pressure the Bahraini government to stop serious violations of prisoners' rights.
