2017-08-17 - 8:33 p

Bahrain Mirror: The National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR) described the 2016 International Religious Freedom Report that was launched on August 15, 2017 as unfounded theories.

NIHR, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, said in a statement that the US report contained unsubstantiated allegations which are not corroborated by credible sources on religious liberties in Bahrain.

It added that during monitoring the religious freedoms in Bahrain, it didn't notice any alleged targeting of any sect, religious community, based on religion or beliefs.

NIHR further stated that it believes that what was mentioned in the report and statement is but unfounded theories based on sources that lack credibility. It cited the report, which was issued by the UK Foreign Commonwealth office for Human rights and democracy 2016, describing Bahrain as the most progressive country in the region.

The National Institute for Human Rights urged the party, which issued the report to contact independent entities in Bahrain, particularly NIHR being an independent party, to scrutinize the allegations before incorporating them into the report.
