Bahrain Mirror: Amnesty International confirmed that detained Bahraini activist Ibtisam Al-Saegh is detained "for her human rights work". This came in response to a statement issued by the Bahraini Embassy in the UK, claiming that "the charges against her have no bearing on her views nor her political opinions."
Amnesty - Bahrain said in its twitter account on Friday (July 14, 2017) that the Bahraini Embassy in the UK "launches smear campaign against Human Rights Defender Ibtisam Al-Saegh, like it has done to others."
The tweet also confirmed that Al-Saegh is "detained for her human rights work."
The statement issued by Bahraini Embassy in the UK said, "Mrs. Al Saegh is currently detained and is facing serious charges related to terrorism, links with terrorist organizations and known terrorist cells operating."
Al-Saegh was subjected to torture and sexual harassment last May by the National Security Apparatus before she was released and then arrested again on July 3 without an arrest warrant. She is still suffering from torture in an attempt to force her to stop her activity.
