Life to 15 Years Imprisonment with Citizenship Revocations against 26 Defendants in Politically Motivated Case

Bahrain Mirror: The Fifth High Criminal Court issued a ruling Thursday June 15, 2017 in a case including 26 defendants, accused of establishing a "terrorist" group. The court ruled life imprisonment against 18 of the defendants, and 15 years imprisonment against 8 others. It also ruled the citizenship revocation of all defendants. In addition, the court decide the exile of the 14th defendant, who is a GCC citizen.

Authorities claim that the defendants, 1st till the 5th, the 7th till the 18th, the 21st and 23rd, attempted to murder and harm any police man they could reach.

They also claim that the 5th defendant made bombs that are used in Diraz, and once wired a bomb on a highway based on the request of the 1st defendant, in order to detonate it, targeting the police. The 7th, 9th, and 16th defendants are accused of received a bomb from someone who prepares them in Diraz, in order to detonate it the following day near the Diraz roundabout.

The authorities also say defendants 3, 8, 9, 16, 17, and 26 assembled on October 8, 2013, aiming at killing a police officer.
