Representatives of UN Political Office Visit Bahrain for First Time

Bahrain Mirror: Representatives of the United Nation political office made an exploratory trip to Bahrain, in its first of kind visit, and met number of official institutions and parties in Bahrain to deepen the understanding of the situation in Bahrain.
The delegation that comprised the Deputy Director of the United Nations Middle East and West Asia Division, Darko Mocibob and affairs responsible Mrs.Yoni Kim, accompanied by UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Amin Al-Sharkawi, met the competent parties in the kingdom.
According to Al-Khaleej local newspaper, the visit aimed at "discussing the regional developments, including the cases related to the security, and deepening the understanding of situation in Bahrain".
During the visit, the delegation met with group of official representative in the kingdom, including representatives of governmental institutions and civil society organizations and held meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation also met the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Housing Ministry, Public Prosecution, Special Investigation Unit, Ombudsman, National Institution for Human Rights, Shura Council, first deputy speaker of parliament and the Jaffaria Endowments. Besides, the UN delegation held meetings with members of the accredited diplomatic corps, United Nations Country Team and a number of non-governmental organizations as well as some national figures.
