Bahrain Mirror: Diraz, hometown of spiritual leader of Shia majority Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, witnessed a mass protest on the first Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, in which dozens of citizens took part in and held anti-regime slogans.
Protestors paid tribute to the 5 Diraz martyrs who were killed on May 23, while defending the leader of Shia sect, Sheikh Isa Qassim, after security forces stormed the village that has been besieged since 11 months.
Protestors held slogans demanding putting an end to Al Khalifa monopoly over power and renewed their determination to defend Sheikh Isa Qassim, who is under house arrest since the raid carried out on the village.
Amnesty International confirmed that there are 8 civilians suffering from serious injuries in the intensive care unit in Bahrain hospitals, as a result of the security forces' attack on Diraz. The attack claimed the lives of 5, injured hundreds, and witnessed the arrest of 286.
