Bahrain Mirror - Agencies: Sudanese Foreign Minister announced Wednesday that Sudan President Omar al-Bashir will attend the Riyadh summit which US President Donald Trump will also take part in.

"I can confirm President Bashir will go ... to Saudi Arabia," Sudan's foreign minister Ibrahim Ghandour told reporters in Geneva on Wednesday, according to Agence France Presse. "We look forward (to) normalisation of our relations with the US."

The summit hosted by Riyadh on Sunday will bring together some 50 leaders of Muslim countries across the world.

Trump will be in Saudi Arabia starting Saturday, in his first foreign visit since his inauguration in January.

Ghandour, Sudan's foreign minister, when asked whether Bashir and Trump would shake hands said: "I don't have dreams but I have hopes, and I hope they will be materialized."

Bashir has avoided arrest since he was prosecuted in 2009 by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes, genocides and crimes against humanity linked to the conflict in Darfur that killed at least 30,000 people.
