Bahrain Mirror: The Third High Criminal Court presided over by judge Rashid bin Ahmad Al Khalifa and memberships of judges Ayman Mohran and Walid Al-Azimi and Mobarak Al-Anbar as a secretariat accepted the objection of a suspect in form and substance, annulling the appealed verdict and accepted the appeals in form but in substance rejected the appealed verdict and ordered to stop the execution of 3-month jail verdict that starts from the date of issuing the verdict against a policeman accused of beating a detainee.

The first-instance court had sentenced a policeman to 3 months in prison. The policeman, however, appealed the verdict. The court of appeals rejected the appeals in absentia because the policeman did not appear before the court.

The Public Prosecution accused the suspect, being an official employee; a policeman in the Reform and Rehabilitation Directorate, of beating on September 17, 2015 the victim detained in the directorate, noting that the attack did not hinder him from performing his personal works for more than 20 days.

The victim (20 years) said that policemen handcuffed him and put his head on ground and that one of the policemen stepped on his head then kicked him on his head.

The suspect policeman said that detainee was inciting disobedience among the detainees and he was brought to the directorate office. The police was asked to handcuff the victim, but the victim resisted so the police had to use force to handcuff him. The police further stated that he accidentally put his leg on the victims head.
