Bahrain Mirror- Exclusive: Austria demanded Bahrain to immediately halt death penalties and allow the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture to visit the country.
In its intervention on Monday (May 1, 2017) during the 27th UPR session in Geneva on Bahrain's human rights record, Austria said that human rights status in Bahrain deteriorated, expressing regret about execution of death penalty.
Austria explained that it is concerned about trying civilians in military courts and revoking dissidents' citizenships, calling on Bahrain to investigate torture allegations and enforced disappearances and promote independence of human rights institutions.
