Marshal Meets Swiss Consul Days after Tense Relations between Two Countries

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said that Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, received in his office today (Tuesday, March 21, 2017) the Swiss Consul to Bahrain, Humbert Vincent Buemi, days after tense relations between the two countries due to Switzerland's criticism of the Bahrain human rights file.
BNA said that the Marshal welcomed the Swiss Consul and lauded the "Bahraini-Swiss relations of friendship".
Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs had asked Switzerland to stop issuing statements that criticize human rights situations. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates summoned the Swiss ambassador to denounce a statement Switzerland made to the United Nations Human Rights Council criticizing oppression in Bahrain.
