Bahrain Mirror: The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) expressed its deep concern regarding the fate of farmer market tents' owners in the town of Isa, as the municipality attempted to remove all their tents in an arbitrary and unjust way. This caused controversy and shock in the public opinion, according to al-Wasat newspaper.
The Federation's spokesman Jaafar Khalil, said that the removal of these tents comes at a time when the whole world is talking about exploiting the unsystematic sector in providing labor and livelihood changes, through bringing in some rights to it. However, Khalil said that abolishing this unsystematic sector in this way, like the municipality did in a rude way, was not suitable for the size of problem, which could have been solved through talking to the seller, and providing a bigger space for them before removing their tents.
The Federation called for looking into solving the problems facing the sellers, especially that Isa Town is for example a place with very few fish markets, and thus the removed tents were a suitable place for citizens to buy them.
