Bahrain Mirror: In his first comment on upholding his 9-year jail term, the leader of Bahraini opposition and Al-Wefaq Secretary-General Sheikh Ali Salman said that the verdict issued against him "strengthened his steadfastness".
Aliaa Radhi, wife of Sheikh Salman, said that she received a phone call from him in which he stated that the verdict issued against him strengthened his steadfastness and determination to proceed on the path.
Salman has spent about two years in prison. His arrest provoked condemnations from international organizations. Besides, the United Nations and United States considered him a prisoner of conscience and arbitrary detainee.
France and Iran expressed yesterday their concerns, in separate statements, over the verdict issued against Sheikh Ali Salman. France called to hold a dialogue between the opposition and government. Meanwhile, Iran said that the verdict issued against him does not solve Bahrain's problems.
