Bahrain Mirror: Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed its deep concerns about doubling the prison sentence against al-Wefaq Society Secretary General Sheikh Ali Salman. This came in response to the Appeals Court decision to uphold a 9-year prison sentence against him on Monday (December 12, 2016).
Iranian news agency reported the Iranian Foreign Ministry saying that the unjust, violent, and security-natured treatment with the peaceful Bahraini leaders does not solve the many problems of Bahrain.
It went on to say, "Granting military bases to countries, and summoning foreign troops, do not guarantee Bahrain's security, and are not an appropriate path for its government."
"The only way to guarantee the security of the country, and the continuation of its existence, is relying on the abilities of the people," the Iranian Foreign Ministry further confirmed.
