Bahrain Mirror: An officer from the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the Bahraini Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science Department said that 143 drug-related cases were raised since the onset of 2016 until last September, mainly including confiscations of hashish, Heroin and "Shabu".
"The cases that include confiscation of narcotics pills are lower than other types of illegal drugs," he noted, adding that "the department is working hard to introduce the latest drug-detection technology. The latest introduced device was an x-ray machine to detect narcotics inside the bodies of suspects."
During a radio show entitled "Al-Amn", Captain Khalid Al Ka'abi from the Anti-Narcotics Directorate's Prevention and Awareness Department warned that drug dealers target the youth and that the promotion of narcotics is a criminal offence with a penalty starting from 3 years of imprisonment and reaching up to the death sentence.
He further urged the public to report suspicious activity by contacting the 24/7 hotline 17715579, assuring that the calls will be treated as confidential.
