Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini security authorities continue their siege on Diraz imposed since over 100 days. In a new violation of freedom of belief, the security forces prevented on Sunday (October 2, 2016) three Ashura obsequies from being held, via banning preachers from entering the town of Diraz.
The people of the area said that government forces banned each of "Sheikh Hussein Yaakoub al-Maamiri, preacher of al-Matruk Obsequie, Sayyed Mostafa al-Karani, preacher of the Sayyed Ali Moussawi Obsequie, and Sheikh Mohammad Ali al-Mahfouz, preacher of the Big Diraz Obsequie, from entering the town of Diraz."
Authorities launched the most brutal campaign so far against the opposition and the Shiite majority since the Saudi and Emirati forces entered Bahrain to crush the popular pro-democracy protests.
In the past month, the Bahrani authorities increased the sentence issued against the head of the opposition Sheikh Ali Salman to 9 months, revoked the citizenship of Shiite majority leader Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, tried dozens of Shiite clerics, and imposed a siege on the town of Diraz; the hometown of the Bahraini spiritual leader Ayatollah Isa Qassim.
