Bahrain Mirror: The Deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq, Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi, described the trial of spiritual leader of Shia sect, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, as a "Sectarian Trial".

Al-Daihi said in a statement that the trial of Sheikh Isa Qassim is an attack against "the highest religious authority in Bahrain," indicating that this reveals the necessity to build a democratic and just political system that coexists with the needs of Bahrainis and their freedoms.

"All the mindless practices on the political, security and judicial levels represent the strategic need to halt the exhaustion of the country's capacities on all fields and head to meet the national demand as a sole solution in shifting towards democracy that constitutes a guarantee to every Bahraini citizen, whether belonging to the Sunni, Shia or any other sect," Al-Daihi further stated.

Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi added that "the international stances starting from the stance of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid bin Ra'ad Al-Hussein who diagnosed the problem in Bahrain precisely in his late speech in the opening of the human rights council session in Geneva, reaching the statement that was signed by 35 states about the violations, crimes and absence of justice in Bahrain as well as all the official and non-official stances reveal Bahrain's situation. They also unveil the dire need to stop the persecution and organized crimes for the sake of people of Bahrain and stability of region as a whole."
