Bahrain Mirror: Head of the Religious Freedoms Department at the Bahrain Human Rights Observatory, Sheikh Maitham Al-Salman, said in a tweet on his personal account: "Any speech that encourages not committing to Bahrain's international human rights obligations, or calls for disregarding the Human Rights Council recommendations doesn't bring any good to our country."

"A number of stated at the Human Rights Council made 175 recommendations for Bahrain in 2012. Bahrain expressed reservation regarding 18 recommendations and vowed to implement 144 fully and 13 partially," he noted.

"Those who care for Bahrain's social and political security, its international status and the rights of its people are required to urge Bahrain to quickly implement the HRC recommendations," he added.

Al-Salman further explained that Bahrain pledged at the HRC to implement Netherlands' recommendation to abolish and remove all laws and limitations on right to peaceful assembly, adding that the island kingdom will soon come under scrutiny the UN Human Rights Council, regarding whether it met France's recommendation to accept the visit of the Special Rapporteur on Freedoms of Peaceful Assembly and Association.

He further highlighted that Bahrain also agreed on the US recommendation at the HRC to restructure its security forces so that they would have more diversity and reflect the real composition of Bahraini society. Bahrain also accepted the Netherlands' recommendation to allow the political opposition to have TV and radio broadcasting or any media outlet. The Gulf country will also be questioned whether it committed to Norway's recommendation, which stresses on the government's duty to protect human rights activists and allow them to practice their work without harassment.

Al-Salman also noted that Bahrain vowed to implement Germany's recommendation at the HRC in 2012 to release all prisoners convicted with charges related to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.

He stressed that Bahrain failed to fully implement the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), adding that observers say the Gulf kingdom has failed to implement the HRC recommendations as well.

"If Bahrain had implemented the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry and Human Rights Council, it would have been steps closer to stability and national reconciliation," he concluded.
