Court Renews Detention of 3 Tweeters over Calling for Illegal Assembly & Insulting King

Bahrain Mirror: The high criminal court renewed the detention of 3 tweeters for 15 days pending investigation over insulting the king, inciting hatred against the regime and calling for unlicensed assembly on social media.

The suspect (36 years) in the first case is from Karzakan village. He created a Twitter account. Authorities claim that the suspect posted political tweets that incite hatred against the regime and call people to hold protests. Investigations led to the suspect and he was arrested. He was accused of insulting the king and inciting hatred against the regime.

The suspect (37 years) in the second case also created a Twitter account. The prosecution accused him of inciting hatred against the regime and calling for unlicensed protests.

The third suspect posted tweets through a page attributed to the communications company. He alleged that the Internet in Diraz was cut off from 3 to 5 p.m. at the ministry of interior's orders. The authorities say that the suspect is 28 years old and works for the said communication company. He made a Twitter account and posted these allegations. He was accused of spreading false news.
