Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Minor Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Hisham Alaywa and Mahmoud Isa as secretariat, scheduled August 28, 2016 to issue the verdict in Sheikh's Isa Al-Moamen's case.

The Public Prosecution had ordered the detention of the Al-Khaif Mosque preacher for 7 days pending investigation, over charges of "inciting hatred against the constitutional system of the kingdom in a Friday sermon he delivered on August 5, 2016".

Lawyer Layla Al-Alwi attended in place of lawyer Mohammad Al-Jeshi to represent Al-Moamen. She reiterated her request to release Al-Moamen because of his old age and illnesses, presenting a report on his medical condition, also requesting the summoning of the attesting witness. The court; however, rejected the defense's requests and adjourned the case.

The Bahraini authorities have recently intensified a widespread campaign against the Shiite clerics in the country, a move that prompted condemnation of human rights organizations and UN experts.
