Bahrain Clerics: Targeting Shiite Sect Paves Way for Dangerous Possibilities

Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini clerics stated that the "increased summoning, arrest, imprisonment, threats, and humiliating attacks against religious scholars, Friday preachers and Imams, come in order to break the will of the people in their protection of their country, religion, and defense to the leader of the Shiites, and national leader Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmad Qassim."
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 7, 2016, the scholars stressed that "the will of the people has not weakened throughout the past 5 years despite all the grave official terror; it is a will that the regime has not yet understood, and still lives an illusion in terrorizing it in its terrorist means. These were proven to be failing throughout these years, which has only led to more determination and persistence to demand just rights."
Moreover, the scholars called for the halt of "underestimating the Shiite community, its scholars and symbols, out of sympathy and compassion with the country and its people", clarifying that it is "impossible for life to be decent and security and stability be achieved in a country whose regime seeks to crush a whole sect, and destroy its religious sanctities."
They further indicated that carrying on this approach should pave the way to all dangerous possibilities, which everyone is rather keen to keep the country away from them.
