Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini opposition announced that next Friday (July 29, 2016) shall be a day of solidarity with the people of Bahrain, calling on institutions, bodies, organizations, people, and elites in the Islamic world to urgently act in support of the Bahraini people.
In a letter, the Bahraini opposition called for "the participation in this day through demonstrations or sit-ins or seminars or press conferences and all available means, to express condemnation and denunciation." In addition, the opposition urged "to carry out programs and measures that would contribute to stop this targeting, which represents a civilizational and cultural genocide, according to the United Nations classification".
The Bahraini people are witnessing a government crackdown that widely targeted the Shiite sect in the country through revoking citizenship of Sheikh Isa Qassim, closing religious institutions and imposing restrictions on the freedom of Shiites religious rituals. It is worth noting that Shiites represent the majority population of the country.
