Bahrain Mirror: Shiite clerics in Bahrain announced on Wednesday (June 22, 2016) the continued suspension of Thursday evening and Friday noon congregational prayers, due to the ongoing widespread campaign launched by the authorities on the Shiite sect, its institutions and figures.
Shiite religious scholars announced last week that they feel threatened by the regime and that Shiite citizens in Bahrain are being "prevented from performing prayers" after the authorities targeted more than 10 prominent Shiite clerics and banned the Imam of the largest Shiite mosque from leading prayers.
The Government of Bahrain revoked on Monday (June 20, 2016) the citizenship of the spiritual leader of Shiites in the island kingdom, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, which adds to the series of threats the Shiite majority is facing in the country.
