Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Interior Ministry said on Sunday (June 5, 2016) that it has taken legal measures against members of civilian security forces, who had posted pictures of them with political prisoners. The nature of the measures; however, wasn't revealed.
Civilian security service members in Bahrain had published their photos on social media with fugitives wanted over political cases. The Ministry of Interior claimed that it arrested 8 fugitives on Saturday (June 4, 2016) while attempting to flee Bahrain to Iran by speedboat.
"Legal measures were taken over the circulation of photos on social media, linked to the foiled attempt by fugitives and convicts to escape to Iran," said the ministry on its official Twitter account.
One of the photos showed a civilian security member posing to take a photo and smiling to the camera with a line of handcuffed detainees standing behind him, while being photographed by a policeman wearing the Interior Ministry uniform.
Local and international human rights groups continue to call on Bahrain to hold perpetrators of violations accountable, as Bahraini courts commonly acquit security service members of the crimes they have committed.
