Bahrain Mirror: Detained Shiite cleric Sheikh Mohammad Al-Mansi blamed the Jaffaria Endowments Directorate (Waqf) for charges raised against him, which led to sentencing him to one year in prison.
"There was no connection between me and the directorate, and legally, it doesn't have the authority to appoint Imams of mosques, let alone dismiss and prosecute them," stressed Al-Mansi in a phone call.
"In reality, the majority of Shia mosque Imams are not affiliated to the Jaffaria Endowments Directorate and are not appointed by it as well," he added.
Al-Mansi deemed this move against him "a personal vengeance and threat message to the rest of clerics and mosque Imams," holding the Jaffaria Waqf legally and morally responsible for what happened and will happen to him.
