Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Alexander Konovalov, signed an Agreement on Extradition on Friday (May 27, 2016), reported the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
The Foreign Minister said that "the signing of the agreement reflects the development of relations between the two countries and their keenness to broaden cooperation and promote coordination mechanisms on various regional and international issues and in all forums."
This agreement might pave the way for the release of a female Russian prisoner sentenced by a Bahraini court to two years and 10 days in prison. The Bahraini foreign ministry had previously said that it decided to release the russian inmate along with activist Zainab Al-Khawaja, who is still being held by the authorities.
