Bahraini Parliament Bans Religious Preachers from Joining Political Societies

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Parliament passed on Tuesday (May 17, 2016) an amendment to the Political Societies Law, preventing religious preachers from joining political societies, and banning the simultaneous practice of religious and political activism.
The members of parliament made an amendment to the bill, omitting the word "clerics" and adding the phrase "separating religion from politics."
The amendment stipulates that a political society member should not deliver religious sermons and lectures or preach religious matters, even if free of charge, adding that religious and political activism must be separated.
