Bahrain Mirror: The Attorney-General Ahmad Al-Hammadi, president of Bahrain's Terrorist Crimes Investigation, said that the Fourth High Criminal Court convicted on Monday (March 14, 2016) three defendants over charges of having illegal possession of firearms and ammunition for terrorist purposes, sentencing them to life in prison.
The Bahraini authorities claim that they received information from the Criminal Investigations Directorate stating that the first defendant, who was wanted by the authorities, was present at an apartment in the Sitra area in possession of a number of firearms and explosives for the purpose of using them in terrorist operations, aimed at targeting security forces. Thus, the Public Prosecution issued a search warrant of that apartment and on May 6, 2015, the first suspect was arrested at the apartment in possession of firearms and ammunition.
The authorities say that the three defendants were convicted of the charges based on "verbal evidence (confessions) and attesting witnesses (Interior Minister employees)."
