Bahrain Mirror: The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, issued a royal decree revoking the Bahraini citizenships of "Major Ali Hussein Hawrani, and all the members of his family who were granted the nationality in succession, for involvement in activities that harm the country's interest and contradict with his duty of allegiance."
Activists on social media said that Hawrani is of Palestinian origin and owns trade companies in Bahrain, and that the reasons behind the decision to revoke his nationality are unclear.
The royal decree stated that "based on the Bahraini nationality law of 1963 and its amendments, namely Article 10 which stipulates that any person who causes harm to the kingdom's interests or performs an act that contradicts with his duty of allegiance shall be stripped of his nationality. [...] Therefore, after receiving the Prime Minister's approval, we decided the following: The Bahraini citizenships of Major Ali Hussein Hawrani and every family member who was granted the citizenship through succession are revoked."
