Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): British Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, Tobias Ellwood, called on all those with concerns about mistreatment in Bahraini prisons to directly report to the Ombudsman office in the Bahraini capital Manama.
The MP's words came as a response to a Parliamentary question asked by the Labour MP Jim Cunningham on (January 7, 2015) about the representations the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has made to his Bahraini counterpart on the continued detention and wellbeing of Hasan Mushaima.
"We are aware of the case of Hasan Mushaima and have raised it with the Government of Bahrain," Ellwood replied on January 12, 2016.
"The UK continues to encourage the Government of Bahrain to deliver on its international and domestic human rights commitments and to appropriately address all reports of ill-treatment of detainees," he added.
"We encourage all those with concerns about their treatment in detention to report these directly to the Ombudsman," MP Tobias Ellwood further stated.
