Bahrain Mirror: The chairman of Alba's Board of Directors, Daij Bin Salman Al Khalifa, said on Sunday (November 29, 2015) that the company will review its policies, regarding promotions and privileges given to employees because of the challenges it is facing.

In an interview with Al-Ayam newspaper, he explained that Alba is suffering from an excess of workers, between 200 and 300 employees, pointing out that the company is studying a number of financial offers "optional not mandatory" for laying them off in return.

He further stated that the predictions of analysts show that the London Metal Exchange prices in the next two years are heading towards a drop, and that the price of aluminium per ton will be around 1,400 to 1,500 USD, and thus his company is facing a tough situation that will become even tougher.

Daij also criticised the Alba Labour Union, headed by Ali Al Binali, accusing it of "lacking wisdom."

"Alba Labour Union is dealing with the labour situation in a manner that lacks wisdom and insight, based on exaggeration, incitement of media and mobilization of people against the company," he added.
