Bahrain’s NHRI: HRW Ignored Improvement of Human Rights Situation

Bahrain Mirror: National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), a Bahraini state organization, said that Human Rights Watch (HRW) report ignored the role and the effort exerted by the institution, Ombudsman, Special Investigation Unit, Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commissioner and the positive results that were achieved and that are linked to the improvement of the human rights situation.
NHRI described HRW's call, addressing the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to abstain from cooperating with Bahrain and stop cooperation programs and technical support as a" negative and surprising call", stressing that it "does not serve to develop the capacities of human rights defenders".
