Appeals Court Commutes Death Penalty Against Suspect in Policeman Murder Case to Life Imprisonment

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's third supreme court of appeals commuted in its session on Thursday (October 8, 2015) the sentences issued against the two suspects accused of killing policeman Ahmad Al-Mraysi. One of the suspects, Ali Al-Taweel was sentenced to death and the other, Ali Atiya, was sentenced to life imprisonment. The court of appeals commuted the sentence of the first suspect to life imprisonment and upheld the sentence of the second suspect.
On April 21, 2014, the court of cassations rejected the sentences issued against the two suspects and ordered to refer the case to the court of appeals for reconsideration.
